Packing for Your Husband Before a Cruise:

A Full-Time Job Nobody Warned You About

Let’s be honest: packing for yourself before a cruise is already an Olympic sport. But packing for your husband? That’s a whole different event.

Somehow, the man who can fix anything, grill blindfolded, and navigate a hardware store like it’s his natural habitat suddenly forgets what clothes he owns the moment a suitcase appears.

The Husband Packing Experience

It usually goes something like this:

  • You: “Do you want to pick out your outfits for the cruise?”
  • Him: “Just grab whatever. I’m easy.”
  • Translation: He will absolutely not be “easy” when he realizes you didn’t pack the one shirt he suddenly remembers and desperately needs.
  • You: “Do you want sandals?”
  • Him: “Nah.”
  • Also him on Day 2: “Why didn’t you pack my sandals?”

What He Thinks He Needs

  • One pair of shorts
  • One T-shirt
  • Maybe a swimsuit
  • The same sneakers he wears for everything

What You Actually Pack

  • Day outfits
  • Dinner outfits
  • Swimwear
  • Backup swimwear
  • A real pair of shoes
  • A shirt that doesn’t have a stain
  • Sunscreen because he’ll “forget”
  • Medicine because he’ll “be fine” until he’s not

The Best Part

He’ll open the suitcase on the ship, look at the perfectly organized outfits, and say, “Wow, you didn’t have to do all that.”

But we all know… yes, you did.

Because if you didn’t, he’d be wearing cargo shorts to formal night and using hotel shampoo as body wash, face wash, and possibly toothpaste.

So here’s to the cruise wives:

The packers, planners, outfit coordinators, and unofficial travel agents. Your husbands may never fully appreciate your packing skills, but the peace of mind that you can actually relax on your vacation is priceless and the cruise photos definitely will appreciate your thoughtfulness.
